  • 16 August 2010 - Book Review: Sammy and His Shepherd

Age 04-08. 5 Stars. Susan Hunt, best known for her Christian ministry to women, has written a wonderful narrative exploration of Psalm 23.

  • 08 July 2010 - Book Review: Most Of All, Jesus Loves You

Age 00-04. 4 Stars. This fun toddler book recounts a simple family ritual in which a parent reminds their young child of all the people in their life who love them, ending with “Most of all, Jesus loves you!”… This could be a classic if it were gorgeously illustrated.

  • 14 September 2009 - Book Review: The Jesus Storybook Bible

Age 04-08. 4 Stars. Overall the story selection is good, the presentation is interesting and faithful to the original Scripture, and the illustrations are cheery, if not artistically amazing. Each chapter carefully and wonderfully makes explicit how it points toward Jesus’ work on our behalf. This is well worth reading with children in preparation for their experience of the real Scripture.

A good book has a profound kind of morality — not a cheap, sentimental sort which thrives on shallow plots and superficial heroes, but the sort of force which inspires the reader’s inner life and draws out all that is noble. — Gladys Hunt
