Book Review: The Nativity

Rating: ★★★★☆

This book is a lovely rendition of the Nativity story, with excerpts of text taken from the King James Bible (Luke 1-2, Matthew 2, and Isaiah 9:6).  It is illustrated in beautiful paintings of a style reminiscent of Renaissance art.  Unlike some Nativity books, the poor characters are dressed in simple clothes rather than rich robes. Some parents may not like the fact that Joseph is portrayed as an older man with gray hair, rather than being Mary’s age.  Still, this is a beautiful read-aloud for a family Advent tradition.
