Book Review: I See

Rating: ★★★☆☆

This is a nice early word recognition board book, part of a series, with simple pictures and names of eight objects (butterfly, frog, airplane, friend, flower, and moon).  The nice feature of this book is that on the left page the object is given alone, and on the right it is drawn in a context where a toddler is interacting with it.  The drawings are simple, but detailed enough to help the child learn something about the objects.  Because it doesn’t tell a story, I recommend it as a library checkout — the word recognition phase of reading development is relatively short and parents want babies to get familiar with books that can later become read-alouds.
